How does one perform Ghusl?
While you form the intention of ghusl, with the aim of seeking closeness to Almighty Allah, one should wash his whole body but should start by pouring water over the head, and then wash the rest of the body. You can also perform ghusl by placing your entire body under water at once while having the said intention.
Is there a way you can do ghusl of janabah with scarce amount of water?
Water usage can be reduced, as it is sufficient to wipe the body with water, and water does not have to be poured over the body.
Is it obligatory to wash the head first, or can I just wash any part of the body first?
You should start washing from the head, but you do not have to wash the head entirely first before washing the rest of the body.
Is it possible to perform ghusl in a pool having chlorine?
If the percentage of chlorine is minimal in such a degree that the mixture is still called water without any qualifications, then it is permissible to perform ghusl with it.
Will the ghusl be valid if you have applied kohl to your eyes and have washed it, but yet there is some still left in the eyes?
Usually after washing the eyes there is nothing left of the kohl except the colour, and there is no trace of it that prevents the water from reaching the skin. Therefore, the ghusl in this case is valid.
A week ago, I did ghusl, but I didn’t wash my private part to begin with. Will I have to repeat the ghusl?
It is necessary for the body to be tahir when doing ghusl. It is not necessary for the body to be made tahir before the ghusl has begun, and it is sufficient if the water used in ghusl itself removes the najasah and makes the area tahir.
I did ghusl Tartibi however I did my first part from head to shoulder which is meant to be from head to neck will I have to restart my ghusl and repeat all my prayer.
Repeating the Ghusl is not obligatory and in the prescribed case, and the prayers are in order.
Before ghusl, I normally take a shower, remove any najasah and clean the body. After that I intend to start the ghusl. Is it necessary for me to stop the shower or to step away from the shower when I wish to begin the ghusl?
It is permissible to intend the ghusl and begin it while being under the shower and without having to step outside it.
If one is performing ghusl tartibi in a shower, is it obligatory after washing his head and neck that he moves his whole body out of the water for a moment and then moves back under the water with the intention to wash his body, or is it permissible to stay under the flow of water after washing the head and just making an intention to wash the body while the whole body is under the running water?
It is sufficient to stay under the water and it is not required to move out the water. At the same time, it is necessary that the ghusl begins with the head, not that it is entirely washed, before the rest of the body is washed.
Is it a condition in ghusl to make sure that the body is dry before performing ghusl?
No, the body does not have to be dry before ghusl, but the entire body must be washed with the water in ghusl.
Is it sufficient in ghusl to wash the head and then the body once only, or do we need to wash thrice?
It is sufficient to wash once, starting from the head.
Is it obligatory to wash the right side of the body before the left side in ghusl?
No, it is not necessary.
Does water have to reach my scalp during ghusl?
Yes, the water has to reach all the skin, including the skin under the hair of the head and body.
Is it permissible during ghusl to fill up the bathtub and to just dip one's whole body into it?
Yes, performing the ghusl in a bathtub by submerging the entire body into water is correct.
During ghusl by way of submergence (irtimasi), is it permissible to wear shorts or clothing in general?
It is correct if the water reaches the skin.
Is the ghusl by way of submergence (irtimasi) correct if one intends to perform it, and cover his entire body gradually?
His ghusl is not correct. It is correct to intend to perform it after he dips his body entirely under water.
When urinating after janābah, I do istibrā properly, but it is followed by the discharge of blood drops. Is my istibrā correct, and is the ghusl that I do after that correct? Or should I wait for the blood drops to stop?
If one performs istibrā from semen by urinating, the istibrā is correct even if drops of blood are discharged after that. He can then perform the ghusl and make the tahir water reach all parts of the body. If the blood stops for a short period of time when washing the area during ghusl, then the ghusl is correct even if blood comes out after that.
During ghusl, I scratched myself with my nail and this caused some bleeding. Can I continue my ghusl and is it valid?
This does not affect the correctness of the ghusl.
I have a lot of pain and the doctor has ordered some pain relief patches that I should put on my skin. It must stay on my body for a week, and then I have to remove it and attach another one. During the week I may not remove it, but what should I do if I have to perform an obligatory ghusl, while having the patch on my skin?
If the patch can be removed during the ghusl time, then one should do so and wash the skin underneath the patch directly. If this is not possible, you should wipe the water over the patch in ghusl, and tayammum should be performed as well.
Is washing inside of the mouth and nose obligatory in ghusl?
It is obligatory in ghusl to wash only the apparent parts of the body, so one will wash the visible parts of the mouth and nose. Washing inside them is not obligatory.
