Day Questions

What is the ruling about someone who does not emulate a mujtahid?

Emulation (taqlīd) is a necessity when a lay believer faces a situation where he does not know the correct religious ruling, as he is supposed to refer to the expert to get the proper answer. Otherwise, without referring to the expert and implementing the ruling, he would be liable for the mistake, whereas he will not be liable when he refers to the expert, even if the latter made a mistake. Taqlīd secures a layperson from liability before the Almighty Allah.

Is it sufficient to wipe my head with one finger during wudhu?

Yes, doing so is sufficient in the correctness of the wudhu.

Sometimes I ask God by Fatima al Zahra (peace be upon her), and if my request is not fulfilled, I feel angry, and say to God, "If You did not fulfill my request for the sake Fatima, for whom will you fulfill it?" Have I rights to such dialogue with God?

We should ask Almighty Allah as needy slaves. It is up to Him to answer our request or not. It may be in your best interests or there may be wisdom behind Him not answering it or delaying it. Almighty Allah said "It may happen that you love a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows, you know not." (2:216).

Where we live, it is customary for the parents to begin saving money and collecting the dowry of the daughter, such as jewelry, furniture and utensils, many years before the wedding. Is Khums obligatory on such money and items?

The normal rules of Khums still apply in such a case. So, if one purchased the said goods and did not use them for a year, Khums is payable on them. However, if he gave them to his daughter before the end of his khums year, he does not have to pay khums for them. She has to if they remain unused till her khums year-end.
